My role: UX/UI and Branding
Tools: Figma | Adobe Illustrator |Adobe Photoshop
Duration: 2 months
Overview
Play on is a UX/UI Case study project and was another opportunity to continue developing and refining my skills. Unlike previous projects, this one started with in-depth research and app design before diving into branding. The insights gathered from the study have provided me with valuable information about the users, which has helped me to create a well-suited brand identity.
The goal
The main goal of the mobile app is to connect people who want to play and love sports. Organizing amateur sports games sometimes could be challenging because you need to find and manage a lot of people. With Play on users can discover available players and organize games in a couple of minutes. With Play on, people will have fun, make new friends, and enjoy their favorite sport.

-
Collect feedback on the app's user interface (UI)
-
Gather User Feedback and Suggestions for improving the app's features and functionalities.
-
Measure User Satisfaction and overall experience with the app
Methodology: Moderate usability study
Participants: 10
Findings
The conducted usability study provided me with valuable information and feedback that will be implemented in both the UI and UX sections of the application.
-
The participants had no problem with navigation throughout the app.
-
They accomplished main tasks such as joining games and creating new games.
-
The participants mentioned that there was too much information on the home page, which made it confusing to determine what is important and what is not.
-
Participants found certain elements in the user interface confusing, such as some buttons and the calendar.
-
Additionally, they noted that the search option was missing when searching fields.
-
The participants pointed out that the invite option was missing.
-
The delete account button and logout button were confusing.
-
The participants pointed out that the number of players for the game should be highlighted, indicating whether players are missing or if the game is full.
-
Overall, the participants were satisfied with the app's overall experience.
Before
After
Modify
Through the usability study, I gained valuable insights on how to enhance both the functionality and appearance of the application itself.
-
I incorporated a personalized message on the home page to create a more personalized user experience.
-
I have reduced the amount of information ensuring that users will receive the most important details right away without losing their focus on the least significant information.
-
Furthermore, I modified it to inform users about games that are already full and no longer available.
-
In addition, I have changed the design, colors, and icons. This has resulted in an improvement in the accessibility of the application.
Project summary
This UX Design project has significantly contributed to the enhancement of my skills and knowledge in User Experience and User Interface design. Throughout this project, I have acquired valuable insights and practical experience.
Challenges Faced:
User Feedback Evaluation: One of the biggest challenges of this project was filtering and identifying helpful and useful feedback from the usability study. In the end, using the principles of both UX Design and Visual Design, I extracted valuable input and implemented necessary changes accordingly.
Time: It was challenging to do this project in only two months while working 8 hours daily. While progress was achieved,
I recognized that the scope of the project could be further expanded for greater depth and quality.
What I have learned:
Communication with potential users is especially important: The problem-solving process starts and happens in the moment of communication with your interview participants and friends.
Constantly learning new things: One of the reasons I love working as a UX/UI designer is the opportunity to learn new things. With each project, we learn something new. Every project is different and targets new problems and new users.
